Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior riding experience for this Spiti Bike Tour?
Yes, you must have at least 1-2 years of active riding experience on a geared motorcycle. Riding in Spiti requires navigating through rough patches, water crossings, and high-altitude passes. You should be comfortable riding for 6-8 hours a day.
What kind of bikes do you provide?
We provide well-maintained Royal Enfield Himalayan 411cc and 450cc motorcycles, as they are best suited for Himalayan terrains. If you want to bring your own bike, you can do that as well (please contact us for a self-ride package).
What if my bike breaks down in the middle of the route?
We always travel with a backup vehicle that carries a mechanic, basic spare parts, and luggage. In case of an unrepairable breakdown, we will tow the bike to the nearest workshop or provide a replacement bike if available.
Is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) a risk?
Yes, as the route goes above 12,000 feet (Kunzum Pass is 14,000+ ft), there is a risk of AMS. Our itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatization. We carry oxygen cylinders and first-aid kits. Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol.
Are fuel stations easily available in Spiti?
Fuel stations are sparse. The last major fuel pump is at Reckong Peo, and after that, you get fuel at Kaza. For the Manali route, the last pump is at Tandi. We advise riders to tank up whenever they see a fuel station.
